The piazza Santissima Annunziata
You can reach Piazza Santissima Annunziata from the Duomo (cathedral) by taking Via dei Servi until you reach the square at its end.
The square presents a homogeneous aspect faithful to the plan designed by Brunelleschi for the Hospital of the Innocents.
The same style of arcades will be used for the portico of the Confraternity of the Servants of Mary and that of the façade of the church of Santa Annuziata.
The equestrian statue of Ferdinand I is by Giambologna but was finished by his pupil Pietro Tacca who also realized the two baroque fountains adorning the square. |
