It has a beautiful hexagonal bell tower added on the Romanesque base, it thus makes it possible to locate itself in the lanes of the district.
It underwent a radical renovation in 1627, even changing its orientation.
The interior was changed in baroque style in the seventeenth century and contains several masterpieces including the tombs carved by Mino da Fisole and a wonderful painting by Filippino Lippi, the apparition of the Virgin to Saint Bernard.
To the right of the high altar, a slightly hidden staircase leads to the upper floor of the cloister of the Orangers. Frescoes relating the life of Saint Bernard as well as sinopias (drawings made with a brown-red pigment) decorate the sides of the cloister.
