Chiostro della Scalzo – Cloister of the Discalced

 

The Chiostro della Scalzo - Cloister of the Discalced is located in Via Cavour. You can reach it from the Duomo (cathedral) by taking via de' Martelli and then directly from Via Cavour which is located in its extension.

Address: 69 Via Cavour

Opening hours: Mondays, Thursdays and the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of the month, the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month from 8:15 am to 1:50 pm. Closed on other days.

Price: free of charge.

This small cloister takes its name from the Confraternity of St. John the Baptist whose cross-bearer preceded the processions barefoot. Andrea del Sarto painted a series of frescoes in grisaille illustrating the life of Saint John the Baptist and the Four Christian Virtues.
