In the refectory of the old Benedictine convent this Last Supper is considered Andrea del Castagno's masterpiece. The Apostles are frozen and present hard faces underlined by raw lights.

The viewer's gaze is drawn, not to Jesus, but to the figure of Judas placed on the outer side of the table. The upper part represents scenes from the Passion.
