The church was built by Cronaca between 1499 and 1504 on the site of an old Franciscan chapel. The facade, very simple, innovates however by the presence of three windows and a door surmounted by a tympanum. The interior, with a single nave, is bordered by chapels and a wooden ceiling. A few paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as a polychrome Deposition by Delle Robbia, do not lessen its severity.
